Lalita Panchami :

(Article by Samirsinh Dattopadhye: http://aniruddhafriend-samirsinh.com/lalita-panchami-shree-matruvatsalyavindanam-story/)

Importance of Jagran

During His Marathi discourse on Thursday 7th October 2010 at Shri Hari Guru Gram Param Poojya Aniruddha Bapu described the importance ofNavratri and also explained everyone the upasanas (worship) that should be performed in this period. Bapu said that during this period maximum sacrosanct and extremely holy waves and vibrations are being transmitted throughout this universe. Hence taking this fact under consideration Bapu described the few points as under.

Bapu initially stressed on the presence of word 'Ratri' in the word Navratri and hence further stressed on the importance attached to all the nights that fall in this period. Bapu urged everyone to  do Jagran i.e. staying up till late night atleast once during the period of nine nights. But while we do jagran we should do recitations of Ashubhanashini Stavanam, Shubhankara Stavanam, Ram Raksha, Shree Gurukshetram Mantra, etc without counting the number  of recitations and / or perform reading of Matruvalsalya Vindanam or Ram Rasayan (both these books are authored by P. P. Bapu Himself). One can even keep reciting just the word"Aai" from the bottom of his heart and call "Her (Aadi Mata)". These recitations or readings should ideally begin from 9:30 pm at night and should end not before 2:30 am in the morning. But it would be best to stay up for the entire night. But while we observe jagran we should take care that the others around us are not disturbed for which we should refrain from creating any noise or being vocal. Bapu completely ridiculed and criticized the practice of playing cards under the name of Jagran and the waste of time that is associated with it. Bapu also criticized the wrong way in which this holy festival is now-a-days celebrated in the society (where people drink alcohol and participate in the Navratri festival, dandiya and processions, involve in immoral activities under the name of garba ordandiya and offer non-vegetarian foodstuffs and alcohol to Goddess by considering it to be a holy offering).

Bapu also said that when a devotee reads Matruvalsalya Vindanam, during that time Aadi Mata Mahishasurmardini Herself sits right next to him. Now its natural for the a child to follow his mother and hence where there is Aadi Mata Mahishasurmardini would be there, there would be Bapu. Bapu promised everyone that He would stand behind every devotee and most importantly promised everyone that He Himself would help them to perform these recitations and readings in every possible way.

To make one successfully stay up and awake for the entire night or even partially and avoid napping and yawning we should include foodstuffs which have a bitter tinge in them and also take care that the last morsel that we swallow should also be of the a bitter foodstuff. Curry leaves (kari patta) which was described by Bapu is His discourse on Ram Rajya as anti-carcinogenic (antidote against cancer) is also bitter to taste and hence can  help in avoiding unnecessary sleep. Hence it should always form part of our diet and especially should be included in the food we have on the night on which we plan to stay up late.

Shree Ranachandika Naimittik Prapatti

As every year we are going to celebrate "SHREE RANACHANDIKA PRAPATTI".
The Dates for "SHREE RANACHANDIKA PRAPATTI" are:
·         28th July, 2014
·         11th August, 2014
·         18th August, 2014
·         25th August, 2014
IMPORTANCE OF "SHREE RANACHANDIKA PRAPATTI".
·         “The Shreee Chandika Prapatti”. Although fully spiritual in itself, this will make of every man and every woman, a valiant soldier, a valiant human being, a valiant spiritual person.
·         For the women it is going to be ‘The Shreemangalchandika Prapatti’ and for the men it is going to be ‘The Shree Rannachandika Prapatti’.
·         The ‘Rana’ is the battlefield and both kinds of prapatti make out of men and women alike, successful and capable soldiers.
·         The word ‘Prapatti’ simply means ‘surrender that relieves of disaster or calamity.’
The Prapatti, be it the 'Shree managalchandika Prapatti' or the 'Shree rannachandika Prapatti', there are five aspects to it.

1.            The first aspect is the
Chandika Mahishasurmardini. She is the Mother of the paramatma and therefore the paramatma is forever in a state of surrender unto Her and so it follows that I too must be in surrender unto Her.

2.            The second aspect and principle is to harbour and also repeatedly express the unshakable belief anchored firm in the heart that the Chandika Herself and through Her dear Son as well, will definitely protect me.
Not only should you hold on to the belief but root it firmly in your heart and express overtlythat the Chandika and Her Son, Trivikram will protect us and take care of us -the shraddhaavaan-. Hold this belief in your heart and speak it out in so many words.

3.            The third one is accepting with love and faith as our refuge, the Son of the Chandika - the paramatma, whom we call Mahavishnu, Sai, Ram, Krishna or the Paramshiva; willingly choosing to live in this refuge and shelter, recalling Him to the mind with love, observing His instruction at all times and at all costs, having unconditional, singular and whole-hearted faith that He and He alone is my support my one and only support in life. This is one of the important aspects of the prapatti.

4.            The fourth principle is praying that the Chandika hold usclose in Her arms and hand us over in the charge of the paramatma. Praying to Her with love to say, ‘O Mother Chandika, hold me in Your arms, hold me close and hand me over to the paramatma’

5.            The fifth aspect is to offer yourself in loving surrender to the Chandika so that you keep enhancing and intensifying your bhakti and so that with Her grace you attain success and fulfillment both at the worldly and at the spiritual levels.

Shree rannachandika prapatti are both to be performed imbibing all of these five principles as values of life.
Shree rannachandika prapatti is the ‘naimittik prapatti’ or the prapatti to be offered in a prescribed form and on a certain occasion.

SHREE RANNACHANDIKA NAIMITTIK PRAPATTI’ FOR MEN.

This may be offered on any Monday of the month of Shravan.

Who is worshipped on the Monday of the month of Shravan? The Shivashankar for one, yes sure. Who else? the other pictures that we include in the poojan ? Jeevatyaa and Narsimha.

The poojan on the Monday of the Shravan is addressed to Nrisimha.

The Nrisimha form is half lion and half man. Every man must have the firm belief that the Nrisimha is indeed the Trivikram and the Trivikram is the Nrisimha, they are one and the same.

The men offer at home their prapatti after sunset but individually and separately .

SET – UP FOR PERFORMING PRAPATTI
·         Shraddhavan's dress code is compulsory while performing Shree Ranachandika Prapatti.
·         A Shraddhavan should have :
1.       Photo of Shree Trivikram (any size)
2.       A banana
3.       A mixture of curd and sugar to be offered as Prasad
4.       Fragrant flowers for offering to Shree Trivikram.

·   A Shraddhavan should take a bath before commencing the Prapatti. While taking a bath prior to performing Prapatti is compulsory, taking a head bath is optional.
• The Prapatti is to be performed only after sunset.
• Shree Ranachandika Prapatti is not to be performed in a group; it has got to be done individually.
•Any man above the age of sixteen can do the prapatti.

THE PROCEDURE FOR MEN

After a bath, sit before the image of the Trivikram and when it is past sunset :
1.       Recite the “Shree gurukshetram mantra”- 9 times.
2.       Then recite the mantra ‘Om namashchandikaayaee’ 108 times.
(This mantra was born of the loud roar of the Devisinha, who is in fact the paramatma and no different from the Trivikram, the original form of the Nrisinha.
This mantra is the most eminent, the supreme one of all that gives valour to men.)
3.       Now placing the image of the Trivikram on the head, recite the “Shree gurukshetram mantra”- 9 times all over again.
(This will initiate and cause the very essence or core feature of the Nrisinha, i.e. of the Devisinha to flow, travel from the head through the entire body. There is no better remedy to rid of timidity and weakness.

The radiant energy of the Nrisinha enters your body and prepares and equips you to become a soldier, capable of protecting the home, the dharma and the country.
So that is how the Shree rannachandika prapatti makes of the man, a protecting soldier of the family, the dharma and the country)

4.       Then Offer the Trivikram, a naivedya of a banana along with a mixture of curds and sugar.
(The banana and the curds (with sugar) are to be offered in separate bowls, do not mix in the two. The one offering the prapatti will eat a spoonful of the curds (mixed with sugar).
5.       Give the banana as Prasad, to both the men and the women in the family. Now come back and sit before the Trivikram and eat all of the remaining curds looking at the Trivikram all along as you do so.
(Curds enhances the oj (valour) (ओज ). The oj of the Trivikram, that is received in the form of vibrations, is absorbed or taken in, in the form of curds.)
6.       Then offer fragrant flowers to the Trivikram and then offer the lotangan. (लोटांगण) .The flowers come right at the end, if you noticed! Flowers are meant to express gratitude, to thank.
The prapatti can make of men and women alike, valiant soldiers apart from making them the protector- bodyguards at least of their family. When every single family is protected, it follows that the nation is and so is the dharma.
The Shree rannachandika prapatti will enhance the purushartha, the valour and their power as men.

Certain queries have been raised and clarifications sought by Shraddhavans which are addressed herebelow:

1) Shree Ranachandika Prapatti is only for gents, which can be performed on any one Monday in the month of Shravan. If one so wishes, the Prapatti can be performed on all Mondays; it is not compulsory. The Prapatti should be performed only once on any of the Mondays.
2) Shraddhavan's dress code is compulsory while performing Shree Ranachandika Prapatti.
3) One can burn the incense sticks (Dhoopshikha) while performing Shree
Ranachandika Prapatti.
4) Using of a mat (Aasan) while performing Shree Ranachandika Prapatti is optional.
5) The Prasad consisting of curd-sugar and bananas can be kept in front of the photoframe from the very start of the Prapatti.
6) The Trivikram photo of any size can be used while performing Prapatti,
7) While taking a bath prior to performing Prapatti is compulsory, taking a head bath is optional.
8) A common photo of Trivikram can be used by all the male Shraddhavans in a family performing the Prapatti. However, they should not be sitting together; rather they should be seated at a comfortable distance from each other. Also, each Shraddhavan should have his own separate Prasad.
9) Any Shraddhavan who is unable to sit on the floor because of physical limitations may sit on a chair while performing the Prapatti.
10) Shree Adimata Chandika Mahishasurmardini’s photo can also be kept alongside the photo of Shree Trivikram while performing Prapatti.
11) If the photo of Trivikram used while performing Prapatti is large in size, then a smaller photo may be used for bearing it on the head.
12) After completing the Prapatti, Shraddhavans may perform Shree Mahishsurmardini Aarti; the same is not compulsory though.

Shree GuruCharan Maas 12th June-12th July 2014

Hari om
This year the holy month of GuruCharan starts from 12th June 2014 and continues till 12th July 2014. Every year we Shraddhavans chant Hanuman Chalisa 108 times in a day at least once during this month. The significance of chanting Hanuman chalisa in this month has been beautifully explained by our beloved Bapu in the below given article.

The significance of Hanuman Chalisa- P.P Aniruddha Bapu’s Discourse
(courtesy : Krupasindhu 0ctober 2007)

During the Ashvatha Maruti Pujan in year 1997, I had mentioned that the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa for 108 times for the period of one month from Vat Pournima to Ashad Pournima i.e. Guru Pournima from one dawn to the next, one will yield the following benefits :

1) You get protection against any evil from that day until the entire of the next year ; you are not affected in any way from the evil,

2) Your faith is transformed into steadfast faith and patience into confidence during these thirty days.

The recitation of Hanuman Chalisa for 108 times has to be done within 24 hours and one can even break the session into 30 times in the morning, 40 times in the afternoon and remaining at the night.

There is a beautiful tale that tells us the importance of these thirty days.

During the days of Saint Tulsidas,  the supporters of black magic built a temple on the banks of the river Ganges. Saint Tulsidas was aware that lord Hanuman is capable of destroying this temple. Hence, Saint Tulsidas decided to recite Hanuman Chalisa 108 times, thrice in the morning, at noon and evening daily, without consuming any food only subsisting on water starting from the Vatpournima day to please Hanuman. Exactly after thirty days, on the day of Gurupournima, Hanumant manifested and destroyed the evil structure.

This made Saint Tulsidas extremely happy upon which Hanumant asked him, “Why are you so happy? You were being protected right from the beginning.” Tulsidas’s reply is commendable. He said “I am happy because I can tell others that Though you do not do bhakti and are sinful, lord Hanumant saved you and at least for that (tempting them) chant his naam. The recitation of Hanuman Chalisa will draw you to doing it again and again. Thus Hanumanji, all will remember you fondly.”

Hanumanji asks him a question just to test his faith, “Who will trust you?” Tulsidas does not argue with him yet says simply , “God, whatever you say is right” and resumes the recitation. This is when Hanumanji goes to the town and tells 4-5 people that “ that old man sitting under the tree is a fraud who has destroyed the temple. You should hit him.”

The people strike Tulsidas with a stick but Tulsidas does not get hurt at all. When they hurl stones at him, the stones return with equal force to them. This makes the people learn that this old man has some divine power. They all submit to Tulsidas with fear and not bhakti. Saints are always compassionate !

Saint Tulsidas tells the people, “I have no divine power but Hanuman chalisa that is powerful than even any evil power in the world. You too recite this and then hit me. Moreover, if this is not an evil then the sticks and the stones will turn into flowers and fall at my Hanumanji’s Charan.” This is exactly what happens. This is when all learn of the enormous strength of Hanumant. Then they all begin to recite the Hanuman Chalisa from Tulsidas.

That night, once again Hanumant appears before Tulsidas and asks him, “why are you so happy? What did you get?”

Tulsidas replies “I am happy to see people chant your naam with love this is what I wanted and I got it!” Hanumanji then asks him, “What happens when people chant my naam fondly?” Tulsidas’s reply displays the supreme form of bhakti when he says, “I do not know anything about that and may be you and the people want to know what you can do and what you cannot!”

Hanumanji, impressed by this reply to Tulsidas, asks him to seek a boon whereupon Tulsidas asks for that what saints always do.

“Please protect anyone who recites the chalisa for 108 times during this thirty day period. One may even recite it only once in thirty days for 108 times. However, please do not test them as you did to me.”

“Jo Sat Baar Path Kar Koi
Chutahi Bandi Mahasukh Hoii “

The verse mentioned above means that the being that is trapped by wicked means is safeguard by the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa for 108 times. This is how the custom of reciting the chalisa came into existence. Kashi was invaded several times. The Pandits who practiced this were killed but the tradition continued through some lineages. Excluding the New moon day, (as the concentration is less that day) anyone who recites the Hanuman chalisa from Vatpournima to Aashad Pournima for 108 times within a span of 24 hours with all his devotion, faith and live is protected by Lord Hanumant from bad vibes. The things that require an effort of 1kg are accomplished within 100Gms When one does such upasanas

This year Vatpournima is on Thursday,  12th June and Guru Pournima is on Saturday,12th July. The period of one month from Vat Pournima to Guru Pournima is known as 'Shree Guru Charan Maas' (Maas means Month)

We can select any one day starting from 12th June to 12th July for recitation of Hanuman Chalisa for 108 times.

Some important Points said by Bapu in Discourse of 20.6.2013

Discourse : Thursday, 20th June 2013 at Shree Harigurugraam:

Above given Story in Marathi :
